Dream is one of the ways through which God communicates to human beings through images. It is through dream that the spirit world engages and interacts vividly with the physical world through the human person.
Dreams prepare you, announce to you or warn you about situations long before you physically notice them happening in your life. Whatever you are or whatever you are going through in this physical world emanates from the spiritual world—and whatever you are going to be in this physical world must come from the spiritual world (that place you see yourself relating with others either positively or negatively in the dream when you are sleeping). Where your enemy monitors you in order to destroy you or to cage your destiny or to kill you forever is not in this physical human world but in the spiritual world. The way you live physically here on Earth depicts how you are in the spiritual world. Here on Earth you cannot be different from who and what you are in the spiritual world.
Learn to appreciate and be thankful for your dreams in whatever way they come to you. For it’s through dreams that we come in terms with our true and real self. If you can dream everyday and remember your dreams, thank God— this means that you are spiritually alive and alert—nothing can be hidden before you on Earth. The psychologist Carl Jung also observes that ‘dreams prepare you, announce to you or warn you about situations long before they physically happen.’ God doesn’t want you to be caught unaware. That is why as soon as you dream, don’t waste time to pray and fast either to cancel it or claim and build it.
What happen to everybody on earth are exactly the things that the spirits have agreed to manifest in the lives of people or individuals in this physical world here on earth. The spirits could be good or evil ones; and they can plan and plot good or evil for you—or it could be God Himself giving order for such a thing to happen in your life or people’s lives. A warning on what the spirits have agreed to manifest in your life comes to you or is being communicated to you through dreams
Therefore, if you are closely and intimately connected to God, any order or evil instituted by Satan and his demons and other evil spirits or witches or wizards or other Satanic agents against you, the almighty God will reveal them to you through dreams—to enable you cancel them as according to Mathew 18:18 or you call upon Him through prayer and fasting Mathew 17:14-21.
St Paul in his letter to the Philippians 2:10 pens down that;- in the name of Jesus Christ every knee should bow both in heaven, on earth and under the earth. This means that anywhere your enemies have planned against you; God will see it and reveal it to you in dream for you to scatter it in the powerful and unfailing name of Jesus Christ. Dreams are visual parables. They are spiritual and visual riddles which God uses to interact with human beings like you and I.
Why it is necessary for you to take your dreams seriously
Some great and amazing things we see and hear in the world and even some great religions and faith were developed on dream work. Throughout the world history and throughout the history of human salvation, God has been manifesting Himself to human beings through dreams and other different avenues.
Imagine what happened to Joseph, the husband of Mary, had it been that God did not warn him in the dream to flee to Egypt and seek asylum for infant Jesus (Math.2:13), King Herod would have killed infant Jesus and close up his earthly ministry pre-maturely. Below, Mathew reports:-
When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you. For Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt where he stayed until the death of Herod….[Mathew 2:13-14]
In the same way, when Joseph was still in Egypt, the angel of God appeared to him in another dream instructing him to go back to Israel with Jesus for King Herod who wanted to kill infant Jesus had now died (Mathew 2:19). Scripture reports this incidence like this:-
After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s are dead.” So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel…. Having been warned in a dream….he went and lived in a town called Nazareth… [Mathew 2:19-23]
From the accounts of the above scriptures, God used dreams as modes of communication to Joseph in order to safe guard infant Jesus. God still does the same today. He uses dreams as channels to convey some important messages to human beings concerning their salvation.
Even before that, had it been that God did not communicate to Joseph through a dream to take on virgin Mary as his wife (Math 1:20), Joseph wouldn’t have married her and therefore he would have missed that honour of being a guardian to Jesus the redeemer and savior of the world. Today Joseph is honoured all over the world simply because he respected and honoured the dreams that God gave him. Many Churches and cathedrals all over the world are named after Joseph. Even many people are named after him. Today, where you find a gathering of about 10 people; you can hardly fail to find one among them called Joseph. It is so, because Joseph respected the voice of God through the dreams that he received.
We can recall with scriptures that, Joseph had already made up his mind to quietly divorce Mary, but God sent an angel to him through a dream and instructed him to take on Mary. Scriptures says this:-
| But after he had considered this [divorce], an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Mathew 1:20-21 |
Dreams are very important. Through them God prepares us for something, announces to us or warns us about situations long before they physically happen.
Secondary, imagine of Pharaoh the king of Egypt, had it been that God did not give him a dream to store foodstuffs, his whole country would have died of famine (Gen 41:1-8). Related to this, had it been that God did not make Joseph a dreamer and dream interpreter, he would have died in the prison in Egypt. It was because of his extra-ordinary spiritual gift of interpreting dreams for the king that he was set free from the prison.
Further still, had it been that Abimelech took jokingly the dream that God gave him in Genesis 20:3-7, he would have taken on Sarah-the wife of Abraham—a thing that would have brought disaster and death to him and his entire family and nation.
However, had it been that the above mentioned people received dreams and neglected and joked with them like what King Nebuchadnezzar did, disaster would have fallen them. God gave King Nebuchadnezzar a dream (Dan 2 and 4) and he joked with it. He did not take it serious, like many people do. This negligence resulted into him eating grasses like animals for seven years in the bush. So whenever you dream, don’t joke or play around or neglect your dreams; but simply pray to cancel or build it (Luke 1:37).
It is very necessary for you to take your dreams seriously because dreams are your guides to the spiritual world. God is guiding you and your talents, gifts or positions on earth; so that Satan the devil and his agents may not destroy you and your gifts or talents unknowingly.
Dream is powerful; it is where God communicates to humankind through pictures or words. Some people watch their dreams as if they are watching television when they are sleeping. I am one of such people. God is interested in you, that is why He gives you dreams in order to protect you irrespective of whether you are a believer or not; a Christian or not and a sinner.
